Fine food & wine since 1899...

For more than a century the Lewis & Cooper name has been associated with fine foods and wines.

From their bustling store in the quintessential market town of Northallerton, North Yorkshire, Mr Lewis & Mr Cooper built a world-renowned gourmet emporium shipping hampers packed with local delicacies and gastronomic delights far and wide. Today the tradition lives on handed down form generation to generation, to ensure those with a taste for the finest things in life may still acquire a hamper of uncompromising quality.

A family emporium a family Saga

Lewis & Cooper's founding partners were sticklers for detail (the Managers’ Quarters were furnished with a discreet window which enabled Mr Lewis to keep a constant vigil over his shop floor) and insisted on stocking only the finest foods and wines.

Today, reassuringly little has changed; in large part, perhaps, because Lewis & Cooper remains a family run concern, with a direct lineage linking the present owners to Mr Lewis himself.

Speciality Food & Fine Wines

Explore the nooks and crannies of the store and you will discover literally thousands of rare treats such as Chatka Crab, Russian Caviar and Quails Eggs alongside the finest York Ham, Handmade Plum Puddings, bottled fruits and Yorkshire Moors Honey on the comb. We're especially proud of our coffee to, which we roast and grind ourselves on the premises. Many of our customers travel from far and wide to stock up on the delicacies they cannot obtain in their local shops.

Our delicatessen counter is packed with fresh produce. We are renowned for our dry cured bacon, hams, best quality sausages, including Cumberland low-fat beef, as well as those made with a selection of herbs and spices. We sell many varieties of salami and delectable patès from all over Europe. We are known for our stock of expertly kept cheeses, with many local Yorkshire varieties as well as those supplied from a number of European cheesemongers

It's from this cornucopia of fine foods and wines that our hamper pickers prepare an exquisite selection of hampers to suit most every palate & pocket.

Centenary Tea Room

1999 marked the centenary for Lewis & Cooper. We celebrated this milestone with the opening of our Centenary Tea Rooms. Freshly roasted coffees and a wide selection of teas are available, along with a very good range of delicious hot and cold snacks, handmade cakes and sweets.
