Deli Focus…
Exploring Lewis & Cooper’s Delicatessen Department

Your Lewis & Cooper deli experience starts as soon as you enter our high street stores. Our self-service chiller units are packed with an extensive range of products sourced from small local producers and favourite foreign delicacies from international suppliers.

DeliWe stock a great choice of British and Continental cooked meats, salamies, bacon and cheeses, many of which are packed under the exclusive Lewis & Cooper brand name, which is your guarantee of the very finest quality produce.

In our chillers you’ll also discover the one and only real Wensleydale cheese, hand-crafted and made from locally-sourced milk. There are indulgent treats too, such as Mackenzies Yorkshire Smoked Salmon made from the very best farmed Salmon and traditionally smoked over pure oak woodchips. Or the famous Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding, made in Cumbria from 100% natural ingredients. Try the delicious GM-free Yorkshire Soup made from fresh produce locally sourced, or if you’re feeling peckish, grab an L&C sandwich – home-made daily and generously filled with fresh ingredients from our deli counter.

The store is deceptively large. The narrow frontage belies the amazing space inside – the store is actually a series of 16 old workmen's cottages knocked together, which makes the front part of the shop really long and narrow - it’s remarkable how far the store stretches back, you wouldn’t think so looking at it from the outside! In fact, as you move towards the rear of the store, its not uncommon to hear gasps of delight from new customers as the floor space opens up to reveal yet more treats in the form of the award-winning wine department, a dizzying array of L&C own-label goodies, stacks of gourmet food hampers, and of course, the fresh deli counter.

The Deli counter stretches across more than 30ft, with more than 1,000 delicious and colourful lines on display. A truly deli-cious sight!

DeliMany of the continental products you see are imported directly from the worlds’ largest food market in Paris. Customers often struggle with the famous ‘I can’t remember its name…’ cheese, a favourite they enjoyed during their last trip to France, Italy or Spain – we probably stock it, maybe we can help you spot it? Have a nibble from our selection of 250 cheeses including the multi award-winning Blue Stilton made by Cropwell Bishop Creamery.

If you’re staying in a self-catering cottage in the area, for your breakfast we recommend trying a few slices of the award winning Ramsay’s Real Traditional Ayrshire rolled bacon and Black Pudding made from ‘Farm Assured’ outdoor reared free range pigs. Oh, and don’t forget the Fresh juicy sausages made locally in Masham, and a box of James Potters organic free range eggs!

The local area is breathtaking – we’re located in Northallerton, a traditional Market Town between the Yorkshire Moors and National Park – perfect picnic territory! So, don’t leave without stocking up on our L&C homemade honey roast ham, cooked to our own recipe using local honey and brown sugar which adds a touch of sweetness. You’ll be amazed by the choice of pies we offer, including Bothams Pork pies from Whitby or Toppings Pies, recently awarded ‘best pie’ - great for the picnic basket!

There’s lots of other nibbles too, perfect for ‘lunch on the go’ or a lazy summer picnic. Don’t leave without exploring the rest of the store to perfect your alfresco lunch selection - handmade crisps, a crisp bottle of white from an organic grower, sparkling natural drinks, locally made shortbread biscuits and a few cheeky packets of L&C sweeties for your pocket!

We hope to see you soon!
