Calling all WIs, clubs and societies...

Sneak a peek after hours, behind the scenes of our famous, award winning store at our Lewis & Cooper Discovery Evenings.

Over the years we are proud to have raised thousands of pounds for charity and entertained groups from far and wide at these events.

Running from September until mid-December, our Discovery Evenings provide members of Women’s Institutes and other clubs and societies with a tour of our well-known Northallerton fine food and wine outlet and a talk on the store’s 100-plus year history by our charismatic retired managing director Tony Howard.

The 'Discover' events always provide an enjoyable opportunity for us to meet our customers, more than half of whom travel more than 30 miles to shop here.

Groups can enjoy an optional buffet, at £10.75 per head. This includes a selection of Lewis & Cooper’s own home-roast meats, freshly-baked pastries, quiches, salad, home-made coleslaw, pickles, speciality breads and seasonal desserts. The meal is served in our first floor centenary tea rooms.

All dietary requirements can be catered for, and tea and coffee is served free of charge after the tour.

Of course, there is also time for visitors to shop at their leisure and take advantage of special discounts within the china, gifts, wine and hamper departments, along with sample tasting opportunities.

There is no charge for the evenings – which run from Monday-Thursday – although a £50 donation per group is requested for the current nominated charity: Zöe’s Place, a hospice in Normanby, Middlesbrough, for babies and infants from across the region with multiple special needs and life-limiting or terminal illnesses.

The minimum group size is 25 guests – if the group is too small, we will encourage you to invite friends or family members along; otherwise we can offer you the option of joining with another group.

Buffet places must be pre-booked and paid in advance.
