Yorkshire Week
Sun 01 August 2010, Northallerton and Yarm stores
We're planning to celebrate Yorkshire Day - on Sunday, August 1 - with a full week of special offers and tastings from Saturday, July 31.
We'll be showcasing the fabulous produce from within the boundaries of God's Own County.
Call in at either our Yarm or Northallerton stores to pick up a bargain, from Yorkshire meats and cheeses to beer brewed in the Dales and our very own Yorkshire Monopoly.
Upstairs at the Northallerton store, you'll also find some excellent Yorkshire-themed gifts and special dishes in the tearooms.
Did you know...
... Yorkshire Day was established in 1975 by the Yorkshire Ridings' Society to promote the historic English county, initially as a protest movement at the local government re-organisation of 1974.
In-store tastings to celebrate Yorkshire Day
Wed 04 August 2010, Northallerton & Yarm stores
Chilli specialist Andrea Wood, from the One Stop Hot Shop, near Thirsk, will be offering tastings of her gorgeous, hand-made (and hot!) produce.
Also in-store that day will be Anne Barlow-Wiltshire, of Yorkshire Dales Brewing Company, in Askrigg, Swaledale, with (among its other beers) bottles of Yorkshire Rose Ale.
Come and talk to these enthusiastic producers, try their wares and take advantange of a raft of special offers in store.

Lunch Club with cyclist and author Dave Penny
Thu 19 August 2010, 12.30-2.30pm Tearooms £14.95
Now in its third edition, 190 Cyclist-Friendly Tearooms is Dave Penny's popular guide to favoured places to refuel for two-wheeled travellers.
It covers a large swathe of the country, as well as sections of Northern Ireland and Eire and is the result of his many hundreds of miles in the saddle.
Dave will join our popular Lunch Club audience to talk about his travels.
The 350-page book is priced £16, with all of the profit divided between Sunderland's Grace House Children's Hospice and a Newcastle charity that takes young blind and partially-sighted people out for weekend tandem bike rides. Dave is a volunteer cyclist with the organisation.
It will, of course, be available for sale on the day.
Tickets include an aperitif and three-course lunch.
Call or email to secure your place.
