Franciacorta, Italy's Champagne Rival
Published on Thursday 02 February 2017
Italian sparkling wine is not all about Prosecco, as leading Franciacorta producer Ferghettina has proved time and time again.
Established in 1990 by Roberto Gatti - after buying a tiny winery and three hectares of vines from a family friend - Ferghettina has grown into one of the region’s most prized Franciacorta producers.
In 2005 a new winery was opened overlooking the beautiful Lake Iseo and from here Roberto and his daughter Laura produce 300,000 bottles of wine annually from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes. Meticulous attention to detail, skilful blending and long bottle maturation give Ferghettina’s wines great finesse and individuality.
We’re stocking a selection of Ferghettina Franciacorta sparkling wines in store, so if you’re fancying a change from your usual bottle of prosecco, we can highly recommend them.
