| 1-04-10 | Food of love theme for Bard's Birthday |
THE next event in a gourmet store’s series of literary lunches will be a celebration of William Shakespeare’s birthday. Because the Bard’s plays are filled with feasting, Lewis & Cooper, in Northallerton, has decided to salute Shakespeare by bringing together two great pleasures: food and books. The talk, at Lewis & Cooper in Northallerton, on Thursday, April 22, will be given by Dr Adam Gearey, of the University of London. It is timed to coincide with Shakespeare’s birthday: historians are unsure of the exact date of his birth, although they know was baptised on April 26, 1564. As well as being a lecturer in literature, Adam also happens to be the son of Lewis & Cooper’s chairman, and a distant relation of George Lewis, one of the 110-year-old firm’s Victorian founders. |
